Privacy Policy

PredictionTalk ("we", "us") is an independent prediction-market information hub. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect

• Account: your email (required to sign in), display name, optional X/Twitter handle, optional avatar URL.
• Activity: forum posts, comments, watchlist items, and the timestamps of those actions.
• Technical: your IP address (via Cloudflare, our CDN/DDoS layer), user-agent string, and basic request logs retained for up to 30 days for abuse mitigation.
• Optional analytics: if you accept the cookie banner, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity receive de-identified usage events. Decline and they are never loaded.

2. Why we collect it

• To sign you in (magic-link or password) and keep your session.
• To show your byline on forum posts and link your watchlist to your account.
• To send you the emails you ask for: sign-in links, password resets, and — only if you opt in — our newsletter.
• To detect abuse and keep the site running (IP logging, rate-limit signals).
• To understand which pages are read and which features work (analytics, if you opted in).

3. Who we share it with

We never sell your data. Personal data is processed by:

• Supabase (Frankfurt, EU) — database and authentication.
• Resend (Delaware, USA / AWS eu-west-1) — sends our transactional and newsletter emails.
• Cloudflare (USA) — CDN, DNS, DDoS protection. Sees IPs and request metadata.
• Hetzner (Helsinki, EU) — origin server hosting.
• Google Analytics & Microsoft Clarity — only if you opt in via the cookie banner.

4. Your rights

If you are in the EU/UK, GDPR / UK GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, port, and delete your data; restrict or object to processing; and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. If you are in California, CCPA gives you analogous rights. To exercise any of these, sign in and use the profile page to update or delete your account, or email us at [email protected].

5. Retention

• Account data is kept while your account exists. Delete your account on /profile and we erase your profile row; forum posts you authored remain but are reattributed to "[deleted user]" unless you delete them individually first.
• Request/IP logs: 30 days, then rotated.
• Analytics events: governed by Google's / Microsoft's own retention (default 14 months on GA4).

6. Children

PredictionTalk is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has signed up, write to [email protected] and we will delete the account.

7. Changes

If we change this policy materially we will email users who have opted in to email notifications and post a note on the homepage for at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
